It is always a fun trip to the fire station. The kids were a little nervous when the firemen got all done up in his gear but they loved crawling all over the fire trucks and pretending to drive them.

Albertson's Field Trip 2012!

We went to Albertson's again for a field trip. It is the best. We got kiwi, blueberries, chocolate soy milk, cheese sticks, bread, and turkey/cheese roll. A yummy free lunch. The kids love it.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas this year was slightly weird. I figured Eriksen would get up bright and early so he could see what Santa left for him but no. We had 8:20 sacrament so I went to wake Eriksen up at 8:10 and he said, "Mom, it's too early to wake up. You woke me up too early." We got the kids dressed and head to church. An hour meeting was nice. When we got home, we put Brystal back in her jammies and Eriksen dressed himself. We then went out into the living room to see what Santa left. Eriksen didn't notice his crane or stocking but went right to Brystal's horse and stocking. It was so funny. Eriksen was really excited about each gift. He loved everything and said, "I've always wanted this." That included his socks, toothbrush and orange! Brystal loved her rocking horse and loves her baby. Grandma Porter gave her a baby to go in the stroller that Grandpa and Grandma Pickett gave her. She loves holding the baby, rocking in the rocking chair and patting the babies back. It is so cute. She pushed the baby around all day. After presents, we had Grandpa Porter over for coconut macadamia nut french toast. It was yummy. We then napped and headed to Grandpa and Grandma's house for dinner. We played catch phrase with the family. It was a great Christmas!

Quilting Project

My friend is really big into quilting and so I decided I would make two twin size quilts for Eriksen and Brystal for Christmas. It was a lot of fun. I hand quilted flowers on Brystal's quilt and shooting stars on Eriksen's. I think they turned out well. I am a little disappointed because the turquoise fabric in Brystal's quilt is brighter than Eriksen's and that bothers me but oh well! I finished them both in about 4 months.

We made Tooth Fairy Pillows for Eriksen's preschool friends. I got the idea from http://modestmaven.blogspot.com/. I also printed a little poem that I found http://www.sewcutebyme.com/catalog.htm?category=46. These are only 2 of the 6 I made. I think they turned out so cute. The kids were not too excited but I figured that!

A special visitor came to the party. Eriksen didn't really want to sit on his lap. He says, "I already told Santa what I wanted."

Thanksgiving

We went to Sonny and Emily's for Thanksgiving this year. The kids traveled very well. I was a little worried when Brystal was trying to get out of her car seat a half hour outside of Boise! We left Myles in Boise so he could work Black Friday. I hate retail! He was able to fly in Friday night and then drive home with us Sunday. The cousins had a blast hanging out. Taylor said it was the best Thanksgiving ever and Eriksen keeps saying he needs to go back to Taylor's for a long, long time.

Eriksen loved holding baby Charlie. He would try to get the other kids to hold him but they were not as interested as Eriksen.

This year for Halloween, Eriksen wanted to be a super hero so a friend and I made our own super hero costumes. Brystal was Cindy Lu Ho from the old school Grinch movie but she hated keeping her ribbon/antennas on. The kids loved trick or treating. Eriksen would run up to the door with Brystal right behind him. She knew exactly what to do...grab the candy and put it in her bucket! It is so cute to see how Eriksen takes care of his sister and to see her following after him.

Eriksen likes to use "different" mediums when he paints our house. Some of you may remember his great poo-casso. Well, the other night he got a bloody nose and decided to paint the walls, doors and spray the carpet with blood. It was all over and these pictures do not do justice to the magnitude of his painting! Myles caught him in the bathroom "painting" the counter. He proudly said, "Look dad, I drew a monster!"

Myles had a Leadership Summit for work in California last weekend. Shortly after dropping him off at the airport, I received this text from Myles, "Eriksen sent me with his Nerf gun. Put it in the outside pocket of the bag. Yeah, I got detained and searched at security. I had to go back and check my bag." Security surrounded his bag and one guy slowly opened the zipper and said, "Stand back! We need to secure this." He slowly pulled out the gun and opened the revolver and dumped out all the bullets. Slowly put it down and said, "All clear!" Yeah, Myles was embarrassed! He ran to check his bag and sprinted to make his flight. His boss, the owner of the company and like 30 other people he worked with were on the flight. He walked onto the full plane and everyone said, "Hi Myles!" What a great way to start his trip!

Eriksen has been wanting bunk beds for awhile actually a bed with a ladder! so I found a design on http://www.ana-white.com/ and Myles took his week of vacation and made it. We still have to make a second bed but I think the first one turned out awesome! I love having a handy man. We put it in Eriksen's room tonight and he said, "I'm glad I'm not on the floor anymore!" He has been sleeping on his twin mattress on the floor. I'll post more when we get the bunk beds done and when I finish Eriksen and Brystals quilts.

Izzie got to come spend the day with us since her family was sick. We went swimming at playgroup, cleaned the playhouse, and ran errands. Eriksen LOVED playing with Izzie. FHE at Camel's Back Park

Monday night we headed downtown to hike Camel's Back Park. It was a perfect night to hike. We hiked up the face and then went to Goody's afterwards for ice cream. It was delicious. Eriksen fell twice while hiking and had fallen that morning so his knees were screaming but he was a trooper and made it back down on his own. Our also had friends join us so it was a great FHE!

Pickett Reunion at Redfish Lake

For this years Pickett Reunion, we loaded up our car Friday and headed to Redfish Lake. We had a lot of fun, not a lot of sleep and great weather! Eriksen was so excited to go camping and sleep in his new sleeping bag. He loved playing with his cousin, Bridger. Bridger even showed him how to pee on a tree! We played on the beach, hiked to a waterfall and had a family skit night. Eriksen jumped for his skit! We are so not skit people!

No, it's not but wouldn't it be amazing if it was!! I was trying to change Brystal's diaper and she ran to the bathroom and sat on the potty! She didn't want to get off. I tried pouring warm water on her girly part to see if it would make her pee and she just giggled. It was so cute!

Primary Talk!

Eriksen gave his first talk in Primary. He did a great job. I was nervous because the morning of his talk he didn't want to give it. We got to church and he practiced while I set up the chairs in the primary room. This was his talk: Jesus is an example of service. He feed the people fish and bread, healed the sick and showed love. I am trying to be like Jesus. I am learning to serve my sister, grandma and great grandma. I like to pull weeds and pick raspberries. I know when we do service Jesus is happy! Unfortunately, he ate the microphone so he sounded like the teacher on Charlie Brown. Oh well, at least he got up there and did his best!

Funny side note: Eriksen and I were in the library getting copies and a black boy in our ward came in to get scriptures. I could tell Eriksen was trying to process something but I didn't think anything about it. Then Eriksen whispers to me, "Mom, that boy has black paint on." Trying not to laugh, I tell him, "No, his skin is just darker than yours." Eriksen says, "Yeah, I have white skin." The mind of a 4 year old makes me chuckle!

Thunder Mountain Train Ride

We told Eriksen that we would take him on a train ride when he was potty trained. Well, he has been potty trained for a year and when he would go poop, he would say, "Now I get to ride the train!" Guess he wasn't going to forget so we bought our tickets. It was a 3 hour ride from Horseshoe Bend to Banks. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the ride. Well, almost all of it. 3 hours is a long time for a 1 year old and a 4 year old!

My mom brings Bo's kids to visit each summer. We always have so much fun with them. This year, we played in the sprinklers, went to see Kung Fu Panda 2, played at Chuck E Cheese, played at Settler's Park, rode Tiny and played in the sprinklers some more. The kids had so much fun together!

Eriksen got to go to the dentist for his first cleaning. He was so excited and had a hard time waiting for his appointment day! He did so well. He was scared of the suction tube so he would let the spit drip down the side of his mouth onto his shoulder!! We got the top teeth cleaned and are hoping next time for the whole mouth. No cavities, though! Way to go, Eriksen!

So here's the story or my claim to fame!! I know Justin of Jericho Road. Our families are good friends from back in the day! My brother, Sonny, was roommates at BYU with Abe. Hence, when my friend, Emily asked if I wanted to go to their concert I said yes. I thought my mom needed a day out and would enjoy the concert so I asked her to join the group. Unbeknown to me, Emily was a super fan and got us front row tickets and then made us wait after the show for a picture! It was a great show and we had a good time together.

The scouts had a day camp and wanted to have horses there. They couldn't find anybody so I called Dallan and he brought out his horses for the scouts to ride. They really enjoyed it. Eriksen and Brystal came by the church to get a ride also. Brystal loved it. She even rode Buddy. Eriksen was a little timid but he liked leading Tiny around!

This year we went to Ann Morison to watch fireworks. We stopped and took some Golden Star to eat in the park while we waited for the show to start. It was a nice evening and we got great seats! Eriksen was so excited for the fireworks. He was bouncing off the wall. Brystal watched the first few fireworks go off while sitting on my mom's lap. Then I hear, "MOM!" and Brystal came running into my lap and wrapped her arms around my neck and buried her head. I felt so loved! She didn't cry but the boom from each firework was pretty loud!

Girl's Camp

This was my last girl's camp since I was recently released as camp director. It was bittersweet to be released but I am grateful that I had the feeling that it was coming so I wasn't too surprised when I got the call to meet with the bishopric.

Anyway, I still got to attend camp as camp director. We had such an amazing time! I worked hard and hardly slept but it was worth it. I have such a great respect and love for the girl's of our ward. They each are so amazing. Camp started on Tuesday and Nicole (YW's pres), Dione (2nd Counselor), 6 YCL's, 2 priesthood and I headed to camp. We were suppose to leave at 10 but I think we finally rolled out of town at noon! We forgot a few things, i.e a tent, my toiletry bag, my pillow, you know small stuff! The joke was that every time we would figure out we forgot something I would say that I needed to be fired but wait, I already was! We got to camp set up and then Nika, Sam, Megan and I went exploring for a hike. We hiked up to an old Indian alter but we were not impressed and didn't think the actual alter was the alter so we kept hiking but had to turn back because we didn't have a trail anymore and Nika was in flip flops! Wednesday the rest of the camp arrived. We did splatter paint canvas's, pixie stix sandart, paracord bracelets and played on the waterslide. We ate good food, the skits were hysterical, the hike was hot and testimony meeting was so sweet. I got scared by a snake. Yes, I almost stepped on it and screamed like a little girl and wild turkey's (or were they snipes!) harassed us at night. We played hard and by Saturday, we were ready to go home!

My YCL's were awesome and amazing workers. They worked hard in making decorations for the camp and making sure that the other girl's had a ball. Our theme was CandyLand. The Owyhee dam glory hole. It was so creepy driving up to the dam and looking out in the middle and seeing this hole.

Family Reunion: Yellowstone Take 2!

Thursday, the guys went fishing on Henry's. They caught their limit in an hour! The rest of the crew headed back to Bo's house and we decided to go back into the park. The park was beautiful and had so much water in it. The rivers were flooded and the waterfalls were spectacular! It was nice to have a mini family vacation in the middle of the reunion.

Family Reunion: Yellowstone!

Tuesday of the reunion we went to Green Canyon. It was so much fun and a hot pool so I love it! Brystal loved the water. We put a life vest on her that has arm floaties and wraps around the chest and she was walking all over the pool. She is still not walking but in the water she could.

Wednesday we headed to Yellowstone. We went to Mamoth and then back to West so that the girls could go see Joseph and the Technicolor coat. It was a fun play, not broadway but still fun!

Family Reunion: Floating the Teton River

The family reunion started Sunday with the blessing of Phinley and then Sonny, Emily, Taylor, Myles, Carley, Eriksen, Brystal and Grandma headed to Rigby. We had to stop a few times so that Jane, Emily's dog, could get out and walk. We stopped and walked around Crater's of the Moon. It was hot but very cool. Then we made it to Rigby where Grandpa was already waiting for us.

Monday the boys went and floated the Teton River while the girl's hung around the house. The kids had a blast hanging out together.Sonny, Taylor, Grandpa and Jackson The boys had to stop for square ice cream cones.

40th Anniversary for Myles's Parents!

We celebrated Myles's parents anniversary with a surprise party. We had a good friend make them a mini wedding cake. It takes as good as it looks! Brandon and Jill made a video of pictures that was so sweet.

For Myles's birthday this year, we turned it into a week long celebration! We ate at Golden Star with the family on Saturday and Sunday had ice cream rolls with a few friends and on Myles's actual birthday he played in his soccer game and we ate at Buffalo Wild wings and then went for ice cream at DQ with more friends and then Wednesday we ate lunch at Tucanos. We sure ate a lot but I think it turned out to be a very good birthday!

Playgroup St. Patrick's Party

For playgroup this week, Liz and Lori planned a very cute leprechaun hunt. The kids searched for the pot of gold by swimming through a lake, running through a rainstorm, sneaking past a dragon and then flying to the end of the rainbow to find the pot of gold. It was so cute and the kids had so much fun.

I can NOT believe my baby girl is a year old! Seriously, has it been a year already???? We had a Strawberry Shortcake party with family. Happy Birthday baby girl! We love you!

Funny Eriksen!

These are a few memories of Eriksen I wanted to write down before I forgot them.

*Eriksen likes to eat "hamburgers with special cucumbers" aka pickles! He likes regular cucumbers also.

*The other day Eriksen was throwing a tantrum and so I put him in timeout and he started screaming so I put him in his room. When he came out of his room, he said, "There's a hole in my basket." He has a small wicker basket in his bedroom I put his dirty clothes in. I went to look and he had pulled out the wicker so that the base of the basket was no longer connected to the sides of the basket. I put him in the corner of the kitchen and told him he had to wait till dad got home. Fortunately, he was on his way. Eriksen sat in the chair crying and yelling, "I am a good boy! I am a good boy!" Good thing his back was to me because I was laughing!

*Eriksen was taking a nap and it was getting close to the time he should be getting up so I let Brystal crawl down to his room. The door was shut so Brystal sat outside the door knocking! Eriksen yelled, "Brystal, I'm trying to sleep!"

They listened...Literally!

I had preschool at my house today. I told the kids to go put their backpacks "by the front door". This is what I found! They literally put them at the front door!

Discovery Center

We headed down to the Discovery Center with Sonny, Taylor and Emily. The kids and adults had a lot of fun. There is always so much to see and do! Checking out his groceries!

We had a fun Valentine's party for preschool. The kids made monsters to put the Valentine's in so we filled them with goodies and decorated cookies. We also had a nice lunch. Taylor and Emily were in town so they got to come to preschool with us!

Happy 60th Birthday, mom!

Mom had a milestone birthday this year so we decided to throw her a party. It turned out great! Sonny and his family drove in to surprise her. It was great to have them in town for a week. We had so much fun hanging out with them. Bo and his family had the flu and were not going to come but everyone woke up Saturday feeling great so they made the trek over also! Gloria flew in for the party and also for Grandma's 95th birthday. Yes, 95 and she is still amazing! The spread! Dark, white, milk and caramel fondue! Yum.The birthday girl!Sonny

For preschool, we went to the indoor soccer place in town so the kids could get some exercise. I think the kids liked it!

Amazing at 95!

My grandma is amazing. She has always been in great shape and still watched my kids while I go to the gym. I am so spoiled! Today when I walked into the house, Brystal was making Grandma push her around on the mickey airplane! I thought it was so sweet that my grandma would do that. She will be 95 on February 10th! You're amazing grandma. Thank you for all you do.

New Year's!

For New Year's this year, we headed to Rigby. We spent the night at the warehouse watching Inception and eating yummy food. Saturday was a lounging day and then Sunday Brayden was blessed. We had so much fun. Oh, did I mention it was like 15 below zero the whole time! It was so cold. The only picture I got was of Eriksen riding Bo's fork lift. Eriksen wouldn't leave Bo alone till he took him for a ride!

1st Tooth!

Brystal finally got her first tooth. I was starting to get worried but now she has 4 teeth! Two came in overnight.

Christmas!

What a great Christmas we had! Bo and Celeste made the journey to Boise, earlier than we expected! Christmas Eve was spent at JC and Jessica's house. We had broccoli cheese soup, salad and rolls. We played a quick game of white elephant gifts. Hailey was a great sport. She got 3 presents stolen from her! The kids decorated cookies for Santa. Eriksen and Brystal opened their Christmas pj's and then it was time for bed.

Christmas morning, Santa brought Eriksen a pop up house with a tunnel and a large Thomas the train puzzle. Brystal got a toy that pops balls up into the air. Eriksen was so animated opening all his presents. Each one he would yell, "What is it? What is it?" It didn't matter what it was when it was opened, he would yell, "It's a ____!"

After presents, we ate a stuffed french toast and bacon breakfast/brunch.

Then Bo and Celeste came over so the kids could play while we waited for dinner. Which was smoked ribs and brisket. YUM! We always have such good food when family is around!

Preschool Christmas Party

We had so much fun at our Preschool Christmas Party. The kids ate pizza while the adults enjoyed a yummy chicken curry soup. The kids decorated graham cracker houses and opened presents. I got Eriksen Mickey Mouse, for the boys, and princess, for the lone girl, cards for his gift to the others. I got him one also. We wrapped the presents and then headed to the party. He opened his own gift first and was yelling, "What is it? What is it?" "Mickey Mouse!" So cute!

Mom's ward had their Christmas party today so we tagged along since our ward didn't have Santa. It was a lunch so we ate fried chicken, rolls, chips and gingerbread cake for dessert. They did a short program and then Santa came.Too bad Santa is a married man!

Last night, we went to the Botanical Garden's for there Winter-Garden-A-Glow. It was fun...after Eriksen's crying fit it was fun! They had model trains out which Eriksen loved.

Christmas Tree

We had our tree delivered the other night. Yes , we are too lazy to go to the tree lot and pick one out! When it came, Eriksen looked at it and said in a high pitch whiny voice, "Ohhhh, it doesn't have anything on it!" We had "Uncle" Steve over to help decorate it. Eriksen loves to play with all the ornaments and Brystal loves to grab the lights. I wonder how many ornaments will be broken this year!
